Installation Guide

1) Download and install Max 5.0 Runtime
1.1 Go to http://www.cycling74.com/
1.2 In this website: Choose "Max/MSP ..." in the "Download Latest Versions" section:

1.3 Depending on your computer system (Windows or Mac), select the appropriate download:

1.4 Select the "Runtime" download:

1.5 Download this file, (unzip it if you have to), open it and start the "Max5_RT.msi" program.
Follow the instructions to install Max 5 Runtime.
1.6 Restart your computer.

2) Download the Micropalette program
2.1 Go to the "Download" page on the menu on top of this page.
Download all three packages. Unzip their file contents to a suitable place on your computer.
2.2 Start Max Runtime 5. The program looks like this:

2.3 Click "File" -> "Open..." in the menu.
2.4 Choose one of the files, depending on which instrument's sound you want to hear.

2.5 The opened program should look like this, and is now ready to be used.

3) Sound check
3.1 Turn the loadspeakers on by pressing the loadspeaker button (marked "A" in the illuastration below)
3.2 Turn up the volume (marked "B")
3.3 Set the dynamic of one of the notes, for example the middle C (marked "C" in the illustration)
3.4 Press the space bar on your computer keyboard to start playback.
If you now have sound, you are ready to go on and read the manual.
